2017 Recap/New Year

Fashion, Lifestyle

I know I’m a little late for a New Year’s post, but we’re still only a week in. I wanted to share a little recap of 2017 and some goals I’ve set for the year 2018.

The year 2017 was a long year, but went by really fast (how is that possible, right?). It was kind of crazy in some ways too. We moved in with David’s parents on New Year’s Day 2017, we closed on our newly built home and moved in the same day 3 months later, Sophia turned 2, we adopted a new doggie (Charm) who is a royal puppy pain :P, David proposed (! …finally), the Houston Astros won the World Series(!), and David and I found out that I was pregnant.

Right before Christmas, my family and I found out the devastating news that my youngest sibling, my little brother, Dillon, was re-diagnosed with the same cancer he had when he was 15 and was “cured” of. It came back furiously this year with a lot of physical pain to his body and a lot of sleepless nights. He went into the hospital and was able to be released before the Christmas holiday. We were so grateful that he was in good spirits and able to spend the weekend holiday with us. He was readmitted to the hospital shortly after and started receiving chemo. He has not left the hospital since and has been feeling really weak and unwell. For those of you who know Dillon, he is a beanpole, and since he’s been in the hospital, he’s lost at least 10 pounds. Dillon’s doctors say that this particular cancer (Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma) is incurable. It can be treated with chemo to shrink the tumors, but they will only continue to come back. It’s been a tough transition into this new year for my family, but we have so many people supporting and encouraging and praying for us, and that has been a HUGE blessing. We can only continue to keep going, and pray that God will heal him.

So, all that to say, 2017 has given me a change of mind and heart and I have some goals for this year that I’d actually like to accomplish! And share with you all! I don’t normally do the whole “New Year’s Resolution” thing, because it just seems like to me most people don’t even stick to their goals and I never wanted to be that person (so let’s just do nothing..lame, I know).. Since getting pregnant, I have felt SOOOO different (duh), but I mean completely different than my pregnancy with Sophia. I felt GREAT with Sophia minus some exhaustion in the first trimester. This time? Nausea, exhaustion, having absolutely no motivation to do anything because of being so exhausted… but now that I’ve made it to my second trimester, I feel a bit better. But I know that I could feel EVEN better if I ate a healthier diet and exercised. I’ve always been a more athletic type and like to work out, but it can be hard to do when pregnant. So my first and second goals for this year are to (1) Eat healthier (cook more) and (2) Exercise! I started exercising and running before the holidays and it feels great to get outside and run, or do the workout plan that I signed up for in my living room or backyard. The workout plan also has yoga available which I like to do as well. And sometimes my little Sophia will do the exercises with me in her cute little way 🙂 The workout plan I use has an app called SWEAT. It’s the BBG (Bikini Body Guide) workout program by Kayla Itsines. I’ve been doing what I can as a pregnant momma (I’m limited to certain workouts) with her program and I really LOVE it! My ultimate goal in doing this is to be able to bounce right back to my normal self after this pregnancy and workout to my fullest!

My third goal is to cherish the time with my little family more and spend quality time with them. Especially my fiance, soon-to-be husband. Whether that’s at home or taking time away from home for a little getaway for time to ourselves, as a couple or as a family. Sometimes we just get caught in the way of life with social media and other media at our fingertips that we forget to go outside and play and enjoy the quality time and fresh air. I’m so guilty of that, which is why my goal is to have more family time.

My fourth goal is to expand my blog, post more and connect a business to it. I’ve been wanting to get into the makeup industry for years now and have just not been motivated enough to get it done. I’ve done a few weddings on the side, but it would fun to get a business rolling and connect that with my blogging!

Those are my 4 main goals for this year and I will pour myself into going above and beyond those goals!

By the way, this dress is one of my all time faves and I feel so good in it! It’s hard to feel good or cute in something when you have a watermelon growing on you.. so thanks to this dress, I actually felt cute! And I love red! I don’t wear it or buy it often because it’s such bold color, but I really do love wearing it! This dress would have been great for Christmas if I had it before then, but it’s also great for Valentine’s Day coming up! It’s a great date night look or for a fun, all girls, Valentine’s Day party look!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Thanksgiving is just two days away! I’m so excited! Who else is excited for Thanksgiving and spending time with friends and family?!  What are y’all’s plans for the Thanksgiving holiday? Any special traditions? I’m spending today doing laundry and packing to go to my parents’ house for the weekend. My family and I usually celebrate the holiday at either of the grandparents’ houses with all the cousins, aunts, and uncles that can come. On my mom’s side of the family, we like to dress up the occasion by using the finer place settings and wearing something nice. We usually work together to prepare everything and when the food is ready, we set the table and we go around to each person at the table and share what we are thankful for! Then we pray and enjoy all the delicious food! My most favorite thing is spending time with all my family and sharing the happiness.

Anywho, I just wanted to get on here and share a fun fall outfit that I wore on Sunday to church. Sophia didn’t want to be left out of the action, so she took some pictures with me 🙂 This dress is probably now one of my favorites. It’s fun and frilly. It’s great for any holiday party. And the ruffles add such a feminine touch. They just make things so much more fun and girly! This is a great dress for Thanksgiving if you like to dress up, but it’s also great for a New Years Eve party! You could add some sparkle to the dress by wearing metallic shoes or sparkling jewelry! It really is a pretty versatile dress.

I would love to hear what you all do for Thanksgiving! Whether you’re sticking to the original traditions or starting new ones, if you’re traveling or staying home! You can leave your comments in the comment section at the bottom of this post or share on my last post on social media.

Thank you for stopping by!

xoxo, K 🙂

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I hope you all had a great Halloween! Sophia and I carved a pumpkin for the front porch, and then I took her trick or treating with our friends and she had the time of her life! She did so good! And, she came home with a FULL bucket of candy and treats. She was so proud of herself 🙂 She was so excited to dress up in her Rapunzel dress too! It was such a perfect night. Even though it started to rain on us a bit. We can’t wait until next year!

Today I wanted to share a look I wore to church on Sunday. I had this sweater waiting in my closet for a few weeks until it was finally cool enough to wear it. I LOVE it so much! I love the ruffle details and the color is one of my favorites! I ordered it from one of my favorite bloggers, Rachel Parcell’s newer launch of her everyday shop on her clothing website, rachelparcell.com. She has a lot of really cute items in her inventory! She has her own collection and then the everyday shop which is a bit more affordable! Both collections are amazing. If you don’t follow her blogging Instagram @rachparcell or her collection page @rachelparcell, you should! She is so inspiring.

Thank you  for stopping by!

xoxo – K

90’s Are In Y’all

Hey everyone! What a crazy time it has been here. With work, Sophia, wedding planning (& stressing), engagement pictures, traveling, life has been so exhausting lately! But I am trying to hang in there. I have been horrible about posting on my blog too. Ugh… And now we have Halloween coming! And then Thanksgiving and Christmas, and mine and David’s wedding! Eek! SO MUCH going on!

Well, today I am sharing a look with you all that I’m honestly on the fence about, haha. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it, but I think it’s because these pants aren’t quite giving me the look I was hoping for. I was thinking a little more flare and less wide-leg, but I think these are more wide-leg..lol. Oh well! I have seriously had these pants for so long and never wore them until yesterday. They still had the tags on them when I pulled them out of my closet, omg! They’ve been trapped in my closet for a few years, haha! My sister gave them to me and I tried them on once, but they were (and still are) SUPER long on me. I was able to manage wearing them with some 5″ wedges. I’m so short… Later, I will try this look with jeans that have a little more “fit & flare” to them. But this style is in, right? Wink, wink. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comment section below or on social media!

P.S. Sophia is obsessed with her “Baby Belle” as she so lovingly calls it.

Also, I will be sharing our engagement pictures with you all and the little story that goes along with them. It’s kind of a crazy story, but it was all so worth it!

Thank you all for stopping by today!

Happy Friday, everyone!

It has been way too long since my last post (almost 2 weeks!). It’s been a little crazy around here. My sister had her baby a couple weeks ago and I finally got to meet him earlier this week! Sophia was excited to meet her new baby cousin too. But we have some exciting things coming up that I will be sharing with you soon, so stay tuned on my blog! I cannot wait to share them with you all, starting at the beginning of October! Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog so you can be one of the first to know!

I wore this look at the beginning of the week for church. This is a great look for fall. Especially with a denim jacket. If you don’t own one, you should go get one. You can wear them with pretty much anything! Also, nude heels are very versatile! I’ve never been a big jewelry fan, but I’m trying to get myself into it more. I like the way it looks on other people so I’m trying to expand my horizons a little in that area. Plus, jewelry always adds a nice touch to your outfit if you have the right pieces.

*Sorry for the grainy photos. These were taken on my iPhone.*

Hey everyone!

I hope you are all doing well! I know with everything going on from the aftermath of hurricane Harvey that some of you are probably very busy cleaning up your homes or helping others affected. Everyone seems to be bouncing back fairly quickly though! We Texans are SO strong and don’t back down! I am proud of the people we are surrounded by in Texas, and we can continue to be strong and help others despite the challenges!

I wore this skirt for the first time to church on Sunday. I really love this skirt! It’s a bit long for me, but I made it work. I’m just short, haha! I purchased this skirt a while back from Ruthie Grace Boutique and never wore it because it was too long and I didn’t like the way it looked on me at the time. But I styled it with a soft pocket tee and comfy nude wedges, and it’s safe to say I was pretty comfortable and felt cute at the same time. This skirt is a great piece for fall and winter, with its dark teal and length. I really love the pockets on it too! You can wear it casual like I have it styled here, or you can dress it up with a nicer top and some dress heels.

So, as I said previously, I purchased this skirt a while back (probably last fall), so it is no longer available at Ruthie Grace. But I have linked a few that will be great for fall and winter below the images, along with the tee and shoes.

Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Monday, guys!

What a day today is. It’s been raining since 6 this morning, and I love it! We’ve really needed this rain. Our grass was really starting to turn brown. Yikes! Plus, I love hearing the rain on the roof and the thunder outside. It’s relaxing and makes for a cozy day inside! And as I write this post, Sophia is dancing to her favorite Disney Princess & Mary Poppins music that I turned on for her after she so politely asked, and of course I’m singing along, haha!

Today I am sharing a new look from last week that I wore to my parents’ church. This dress is so fun and flowy, and I love the floral print! It’s great for summer, on the beach, for church, or a date night out. I also think this will make a great transition piece for fall because you can pair it with a chunky sweater or denim jacket! It’s super comfortable too. You can pair it with wedges like the ones I am wearing or you can pair it with cute booties for fall. I can’t wait to wear this dress with more styles! Also, these wedges are the most comfortable shoes! The girl who sold them to me wasn’t lying when she said they were super comfortable! And since they’re nude colored, they’ll go with almost anything.

I found both of these items at Ruthie Grace Boutique (one of my favorite places, and my sis works there!). You can can find them on their website, or if you live in Montgomery, TX, you can go in and enjoy a personal shopping experience at their location! They are also expanding their business and moving to a new location soon, still in Montgomery, just a bigger place. Since they are moving, they are having a HUGE warehouse sale event. It’s going to be awesome! They’re going to have a few vendor booths there to purchase from, food trucks, GIVEAWAYS, 50% off all purchases, and MUCH more! So, if you live in the area, you should definitely be there, and if you’re out of town, you should still be there! It’s going to be a blast! I will definitely be there!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Summer Wedding Chic

Fashion

Happy Tuesday, Loves!

What a week last week was! We spent 5 days at my parents’ house and had such a blast! We attended a beautiful wedding on Thursday. Sophia loves to dance, so she was dancing the away (of course with me in tow). She was so cute and the wedding was lots of fun! And the very next day I was proposed to!! WHAT?! I still can’t believe it. We went to a family favorite restaurant called Fajita Jacks, ate some delicious Mexican cuisine on the lake, and then headed out to the docks to feed the fish. And that is where David got down on one knee and surprised me (sort of, insert wink face emoji) with a proposal. It was a funny one, but sweet and romantic. I love him so much! And I cannot stop staring at my ring! He did awesome.

Anyways, I would like to share with you what I wore to the wedding before I forget! Haha! This was a fun dress to wear with added bright fuchsia. It’s light-weight and super feminine and everyone knows I love ruffles so that’s an added plus! It’s also a great transition piece for fall! The fuchsia floral shoes together with the fuchsia feather earrings gave this outfit a bit of character. And this straw tote! I’ve been looking for a good one of these and I think this one is perfect. And it will go nicely with so many things! My favorite part about it is the pom poms. I love that little detail! The best part about all this is I found them all in one place! You can shop them all at Forever 21! They will be linked below.

Thanks for stopping by, y’all!

Happy Monday, everyone!

Today has been a long day for me! Luckily I’m home now and can relax for a bit. I do need to do some laundry though for the weekend. David, Sophia and I will be heading to my parents’ house on Wednesday for a little vacation time and to spend time with my family over there. So, I’ve got some work to do!

Today, I’m sharing yesterday’s Sunday best with you all. This kimono is one of my favorites. It’s so pretty. I love the embroidered flowers on it, and the ruffle around the waist adds some frilly and feminine fun to it. It also has a tie in the front which is nice for when you want to use it as a swim coverup. I had fun wearing this yesterday and I plan on wearing it a lot more. You can pretty much pair it with anything, whether you’re going to church, a festival, or to the beach!

I hope you all are enjoying your day today! Thank you for stopping by!

Sunday Lunch

Fashion

Happy Monday, you guys!

Despite it being Monday, I’ve actually had a great start to my day! I woke up this morning feeling pretty well rested. I got myself dressed and went for a run with my Charlie Doggie. I haven’t gone running in so long, but I had a good run. I took Charlie with me for moral support, and he could use a little exercise himself. He’s gotten a little on the chubby side.. Shh..don’t tell him I said so (hehe!). Charlie does awesome with running though. Minus a few stops to take a potty break, he jogs the whole way through without tripping me up, haha. Anyways, after my run I made some breakfast, talked to my sister for almost an hour, and looked through pics for this blog post. Oh, and I have this week off of work! So I can spend a little more time on my blog 🙂 I know I’ve been horrible with posting lately, but I’m trying to get better.

Today, I wanted to share with you a fun outfit I wore yesterday to church and to lunch. I really like this dress because it’s light-weight, it has a really cute tie on the back, it’s great for a hot summer day, and what’s also great about it is you can wear it with a cardigan if you wanted to cover up a little more and it still looks super cute. ANNND, it’s super affordable. The hat was also a fun, added accessory. I normally just wear baseball caps, but I really like this hat. I will share links below to all the details of my outfit 🙂

Also, we tried a new (to us) Mexican restaurant here in Helotes and it was amazing. Growing up in Texas, my family ate a lot of Mexican food. And we still do! It’s just sooo good! I would say this restaurant, called El Chaparral, is probably one of my favorites now. I can’t wait to take the rest of my family there. If you live in the San Antonio area or you’re ever here to visit, I definitely recommend trying it out. You won’t be disappointed!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you all have a blessed Monday!
