Good morning, loves! Happy FRIDAY!

*WARNING* – This is a long read!

To start off, I’m sharing the story of how David and I met. I was about 21 when I first met him. I was kind of young and dumb at the time (haha) and into cars and going to car shows. We first “met” on social media via this car scene, and talked through text, phone calls, and FaceTime, but it never really turned into anything serious. It died off after about 3 months and I moved to Dallas to pursue a makeup career while nannying full time. I was at work one day and received a message on Instagram from David, 6 months later, asking if I had changed my number (I had), and he proceeded to ask for my new number. I gave him a bit of a hard time because we hadn’t talked in so long and I didn’t know what his intentions were this time. But we picked up again over text, phone calls, and FaceTime. It started to get a little more serious this time and he started asking me to come visit him in San Antonio. We still hadn’t met in person, so I was skeptical and told him no every time he asked. And let me tell you, he practically begged for me to come for a while, haha! I finally told him I would visit, but it would only be for the day. So, I drove to San Antonio on a sunny Sunday morning and made it by the afternoon. I was so nervous meeting him in person, he didn’t care. He had had a good night with his friends the night before so he was feeling it that morning.. *rolls eyes*. We hung out at his parents’ house for a while. I had the privilege of meeting his family, and then later we went on our first “date” to Wing Stop about 10  minutes away. And I guess the rest is history. I went home that night, and we continued to visit each other over the next several months until I lost my job in Dallas. After that, I packed up my stuff and moved to San Antonio so that we could be closer and not do long distance anymore. It was hard having a long distance relationship. But here we are almost 4 years later, engaged with a beautiful new home and a sweet 2-year-old daughter, and about to be married! We have both changed SO MUCH since the first day we met, and I am happy to say I am proud of who we’ve become as individuals and together. And I am especially proud of my very hard-working man!

Next up, Big Bend! What an experience this was! I had a wedding to do makeup for in Dallas with my friend, Julie on Saturday afternoon. So I drove to Dallas Saturday morning, met with Julie, drove to the venue, did makeup til 5;30pm, packed up and drove back to San Antonio. I made it back to San Antonio at 10:20ish, washed my face and grabbed David, and we left by 11pm that night after getting food and headed straight to Big Bend National Park. We literally drove ALL night to get there before sunrise. It was grueling to say the least. David drove the first 2 hours of the trip, and I slept in the back on a pallet I made on top of the folded down seats in my car. And then we switched so that he could sleep while I drove. he was supposed to drive another hour, but he could hardly keep his eyes open and his hitting the grooves on the side of the road were waking me up. So, I drove for the next 2 and a half hours. By that time, we were basically in the middle of nowhere, with no town, gas station, or street lights in sight. I didn’t really think much of it until we started getting low on gas…I was starting to worry, and then my worry was turning into mild panic. I had 80 miles left on my gas tank and there was NOTHING in sight. I couldn’t see a thing beyond my headlights. It was also overcast and raining so it was extra dark. Then I hit 40 miles on my tank and STILL not a single town or gas station. By then I had been praying so hard that a gas station would pop up somewhere and I was trying extremely hard to contain my worry and panic. David woke up around this time and asked, “How are we on gas?”, and I just answered, “I’m worried…”. Then finally, out of NOWHERE, we saw street lights that turned into a VERY small town and there, right in front of us, was a gas station! If I wasn’t driving, I would have been jumping up and down, but I was certainly so relieved and thankful to God for providing a gas station at JUST the right time. Imagine if we had gotten stranded out there!! I would have been bawling my eyes out and scared half to death, haha! We were still a good distance from the park too. So after we filled up, David continued the drive until we got to the entrance of the park and then we switched again. We got to the entrance around 4am and the drive through the park was another two hours to get where we wanted to be. It was quite scary driving through the park in the dark. it was so black I couldn’t see anything next to me. Only what was 10ft in front of me. I couldn’t see if there was a drop-off off the side of the road, I couldn’t see the mountains. Nothing. And then we hit a dirt road that had several large puddles we had to cross which made me super nervous because I was afraid we were going to get stuck. And this dirt road got very narrow towards the end… SO SCARY! But we finally made it to our destination by 6am and started getting ready for pictures. I did my makeup quickly, forgot to brush my hair, I brushed my teeth (in the car), and got dressed. David fixed his hair and got dressed and then we followed our photographer on the little hike to the river to start taking pictures. We were exhausted, but it truly was worth the drive. Once the sun started coming out, we could see EVERYTHING! And boy was it gorgeous! I cannot wait to go back, but next time we will not be driving all night to get there..

I hope you guys enjoyed these two stories! I tried to keep them short, but I couldn’t leave the good details out! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read the whole thing! I hope you love the pictures as much as we do! And if you ever need a photographer that’s as crazy as you, Liz with Trek and Bloom Photography is the girl to go to!

New Family Addition

Happy Friday, y’all! Hooray for the weekend!

We recently added a new member to our family, and I wanted to share! We had been considering adopting a playmate for our pup, Charlie for some time now, and we finally decided we were ready! I found a rescue group called Katie’s Roadside Rescue here in San Antonio. Katie (the sweet lady who started the group) picks up stray dogs and fosters them until she finds them a new home or until they are ready to find new homes. When we found Charm, we fell in love! And we had only seen her picture! We were so excited to finally meet her and bring her home on June 4th, 2017. She is a 6 month old puppy and has bigger paws than Charlie, who is a Lab mix! It’s safe to say that she’s going to be a big girl! She has the sweetest personality, she loves to give sloppy kisses. She is a wonderful guard dog (at the moment), with a fierce bark that will scare the daylights out of you. She’s a spunky girl who loves to jump around and play. We really love the light she brings to our family. Charlie wasn’t too sure about her in the beginning. But they get along great and are constantly wrestling with each other! And when Charm comes to me for attention, Charlie wags his way over and ever so gently pushes her out of the way with a big smile on his face, haha! He’s such a goof! All in all, I think Charlie is happy to have a new sister. I love my puppies. Sophia really loves them too! And now she has two dogs to chase around the house with her toy stroller that she likes to run them over with, haha!

If you’re in the San Antonio area, or anywhere in the U.S., and you are interested in adopting a new pup to your family, you can visit Katie’s Roadside Rescue online and find a bunch of sweet pups that have the potential to be the right fit for your family!

WARNING: ALL the pups they have are WAY too cute and really will steal your heart!

Mother’s Day @ Mustang Island

Lifestyle, Personal

Hello Loves!

I hope all you mommas had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Being a momma has taught me a great many things, but most of all it has really opened my eyes to see the love that my momma has for me and the hard times she went through raising her kids! It is the most challenging job, but the most rewarding job there is! My little love has a full heart of love to give and I feel it every single day. There have been nights where I’ve put Sophia down for bed and I already miss talking to her and snuggling with her, and can’t wait til’ the next day to see her bright and beautiful smile and feel her gigantic, warm hugs! Being a momma is seriously the best job anyone could ever have!

We spent our Mother’s Day going to church in the morning and then David, Sophia, Charlie and I hit the road to the beach to spend the afternoon there as my Mother’s Day treat. Oh, how fun it was! The memories of Sunday, May 14th, 2017 will be some I will never forget! Sophia had the time of her life digging in the sand, holding my hand as we ran into the waves, looking for shells and playing with Charlie. We even got Charlie to get in the water with us a few times (he doesn’t like water AT ALL)! And we all worked together to build a sand castle made from a heart-shaped bucket. It was all so fun, but the most fun for me was watching Sophia enjoy herself. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend Mother’s Day. My honey is the best!

Love you all!

xoxo, K

Small Town Carnival

Lifestyle, Personal, Sophia

Hey guys!

We had quite a busy weekend this weekend! My sister was visiting with her three babies from out of town, we had a small get together to celebrate having a new home, and Sophia and I had the opportunity to attend the small carnival here in town with my best friend and her son who is Sophia’s age.

We just moved to this little town just outside of San Antonio, and every year they put on a carnival. It was a lot of fun! Especially for Sophia! She got to ride a couple of ponies, pet a kangaroo, porcupine and prairie dog, and she got to ride a few rides! Oh, and she didn’t like the snake much..she didn’t really want to pet many of the animals. She just liked to look. But we will definitely be going again next year and spending a little more time there.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! And I hope your week is even better!

xoxo, K

25 Facts About Me :)

Happy Saturday!

Today I thought it’d be fun to share 25 things about myself so that you can all get to know me more. Does that sound fun to you? I just need to get my typing right.. I’m having trouble typing today, haha! So, ignore any typos you might see..

  1. I like to be silly! I really make myself look like an idiot sometimes when I goof around, haha! Especially with Sophia.
  2. I am a fully matured 26-year-old 😉
  3. I have 4 siblings. Two brothers, two sisters. Randy (32), Emily (25), Samantha (23), Dillon (21). I hope they’re ok with me sharing this, haha!
  4. My boyfriend always texts me screenshots of shoes he wants to buy… which he is currently doing… (insert laughing emoji)
  5. I love makeup!! And I love doing makeup on others.
  6. I love all kinds of music! Music makes me happy 🙂
  7. My favorite band of all time is Relient K!
  8. I am a sensitive person (you could ask my family), but I never cry during movies.
  9. And my MOST favorite movie of ALL time is Disney’s original Beauty & the Beast! David makes fun of me when I start singing all the songs.
  10. I love doing fun activities and going fun places with Sophia. Especially when she gets excited about what we are doing. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing happiness and excitement on her face 🙂
  11. I have a horrible phobia of roaches (who doesn’t?), and when I see one, I get nervous and freak out and literally get the shakes, and start to sweat. They are the worst creatures ever.. And if one flies towards me.., forget it. I lose all control.
  12. I am a bit shy in the beginning, but mostly pretty outgoing. Especially when I get comfortable.
  13. I am pretty athletic, but never got the chance to play any sports 🙁
  14. I love traveling. My dream places to travel would be Australia, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and on a smaller scale, Disneyworld! And I would love to visit a place with crystal clear beaches.
  15. I have two pets. A dog named Charlie. He’s a momma’s boy 🙂 and a cat named Anastasia. She’s my special kitty. I’ve had her since she was a teenie baby and she’s 9 years old now!

  18. I like to try new things, whether it’s food, fashion, or places. I am a very open-minded person and usually pretty optimistic.
  19. I put anything new on major repeat.. I like to thoroughly enjoy things while they’re new, whether it’s new clothes, new shoes, new music. Depending on the item. Because I also don’t want certain things to get old too fast!
  20. I like it cold when I sleep so that I can bundle up in my blankets.
  21. I have a sweet tooth. I can’t live without sweets.
  22. My guilty pleasure is Dr. Pepper.
